Jim Wyant, Master Photographer, Craftsman
James N. Wyant, Master Photographer, Craftsman, has shared his passion for self-expression through photography with others since the age of 10, when he held his first camera. That passion has propelled Jim into becoming one of the most award-winning and nationally-recognize d wedding and portrait photographers in Indiana.
Named "Photographer of the Year" for the state of Indiana in 2000 and 1995, Jim brings a balance to the art of reflecting the inner person with distinction and believability. His challenge is to create an image that conveys the warmth, emotion, and presence of the subject. The result is a likeness that captures the essence of the individual it portrays. An image by Jim Wyant is priceless, sensitive...and forever.
"Brothers and Buddies", an impressionistic image of three young boys in a summer field, is one of only two prints to receive perfect 100 scores (portrait class) in the history of the Professional Photographers of Indiana (PPI) competition. The piece was also included in a group of three portraits and three wedding images that, together, helped Jim fulfill a lifetime goal and dream. The goal was to receive the prestigious 'Director's Award' for the highest total print score. The dream...a new state record.
"Division of Awareness", accepted into the Professional Photographers of America's (PPA) permanent Loan Collection was in the "Top 10" for the PPA's national ASP exhibit, out of nearly 7,000 entries. The portrait was later entered into the 'International Hall of Fame of Photographers' in Oklahoma City.
Jim has also placed seven wedding albums into the PPA Loan Collection (the highest honor available in professional competition), has been presented 8 Kodak Gallery Awards, won the PPI President's Award, has won the PPI Bill Stockwell Award for the most creative wedding album 9 times (state record), and is a 12 time winner of the Fuji "Masterpiece" Award.
Lois Wyant, Master Photographer, Craftsman
As a photographic artist, Lois Wyant brings together the qualities of sensitivity, creativity, and attention to detail to create a diverse and innovative body of work. Her images capture the reality of everyday life in a way that brings out the beauty in the simple, yet elegant things we often take for granted.
Lois received her Craftsman degree in 1994, and her Master's degree in 1995, creating a husband and wife Master - Craftsman team in Indiana.
Lois has earned respect throughout the United States as both a teacher and a speaker. Her images have earned silver and gold awards on the state level, including "Best of Show" at the Indiana State Fair, and many blue ribbon 'merits' on the national level. Her wedding albums have taken first place at the PPI convention, and have been placed in the "National Loan Collection". In addition, Lois has been the recipient of the Kodak Gallery Award and the Fuji 'Masterpiece' Award. She also won the 'Hoosier Award', which was given to the photograph that best depicted family life in Indiana, and the IPPG Award for the best family photograph.
Indiana State Convention 2000 brought Lois to a new level of achievement as she captured the prestigious Director's Award for the highest scoring photograph among all entries. She was also honored with the President's Award for service within the organization, and dedication to the art of photography.
